care tips

Buganvilla is hardy to -4 degrees Celsius, but likes cooler temperatures. If bougainvillea does not get enough sunlight, its chances of flowering are reduced. It will also grow much less. Bougainvillea will flower when it is well cared for and receives sufficient sunlight. Water it a lot during the summer, but always allow the substrate or soil to dry out between waterings.

The general rule is that bougainvillea needs help to create new vegetation and flowers. During the growing period (spring and summer) we can add a water-soluble fertiliser at least three or four times. The exact dosage of each fertiliser is indicated by the manufacturer on the product label.

With pruning, you can shape your bougainvillea according to your wishes. For example, we can give the plant a specific direction and morphological structure. In addition, by removing old, dry and diseased branches, the bougainvillea will grow new shoots and, by extension, fresh flowers. When bougainvillea are grown in pots on balconies, the plants usually climb up a canopy or other upright skeleton and need a minimum of pruning in early spring to encourage growth.
