Did you know that in Greek mythology the evergreen bay laurel stands for the eternal love of the god Apollo for the nymph Daphne? Her father turned Daphne into a bay laurel to protect her from Apollo's advances, but Apollo subsequently planted the bay laurel around his temple to honour her and to have her close by.
