The bonsai ficus is characterised by having small, rounded and dark green leaves, and a tendency to branch out a lot. This plant prefers a warm location and doesn't like sudden drops in temperature. It can't tolerate temperatures below 15°C (59°F) and dislikes drafts of air. A bright spot is suitable for this plant, tolerating average temperatures of 20°C (68°F).

To keep the bonsai compact, we recommend fertilizing it with a special liquid bonsai fertilizer every 2 or 4 weeks. Leaf cleaning is necessary. It doesn't like to be moved around frequently from where it's placed.

strelitzia nicolai Ikea

The Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia) is an attractive plant originating from southern Africa, commonly used in urban gardens. The attention-grabbing feature of this plant is the vibrant and unique appearance of its flowers, which resemble real 'birds of paradise', birds with beautiful plumage native to New Guinea and South Africa.

Strelitzias love natural light, and they can even be placed in direct sunlight, provided they are introduced to it gradually. During the winter, place it in the sunniest window. It's important to note that they don't tolerate intense frosts, only light and brief ones.

For Strelitzias to flower, the temperature should be above 12 degrees Celsius for several weeks. Watering should be done by allowing the surface of the soil to dry out slightly in between. Bear in mind that excessive watering can harm the rhizome.

Your Yucca is easy to maintain. Lack of water is not usually a problem for this plant, as it is a hardy one. This is because its leaves close their stomata to conserve water and its roots, when planted in the outdoor soil, can expand up to 2 metres in search of water. It's a low-maintenance plant.

Taking into account that it's a large plant, it's recommended to plant it outdoors in an area away from pipes and walls, as its roots are very invasive. The type of soil they prefer is fertile soil with good drainage. The watering frequency should be moderate, about twice a week in summer and every 6-7 days for the rest of the year.
