care tips
To encourage the flowering of tulips, plant them in well-drained soil with full sun or partial shade during the autumn or early spring. Water sparingly, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between watering, as overwatering can cause the bulbs to rot. For vibrant blooms, consider feeding them with a balanced fertiliser when the leaves start to emerge. Tulips are typically planted in autumn, about 4 to 6 weeks before the ground freezes, or in early spring in milder climates.
- Sunlight: Tulips thrive with at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day.
- Water: Water sparingly and ensure the pots have good drainage to prevent sogginess.
- Soil: Use well-draining, nutrient-rich soil to promote healthy growth.
- Pruning: It's advisable to deadhead the spent flowers to encourage further blooming and avoid seed production, allowing the plant to focus its energy on the remaining blooms.
